Studios

PADA Studios is a spacious 1000 m2 converted warehouse that historically made jute sacks. It is located in the centre of Baia do Tejo Industrial Park.

Divided into two floors with a mezzanine overlooking the residency studios, the warehouse is home to PADA Gallery and all residency facilities.Located on the ground floor are 10 studios for the International Residency, a workshop for wood and metal, a small dark room and PADA Gallery.

On the first floor there are further studios for Bolsa Barreiro and Alumni Studio, a dedicated work space for the Research Residency, a large living area, communal kitchen and small library.

Each studio includes desk and chair. There is Wi-Fi and residents have 24/7 access.

 

Accomodation

The accommodation is a 5 minute walk from the studios and is based within the industrial park, inside four cottages in the old workers quarter. For the past 100 years these houses have been home to the factory workers. 

Surroundings

Barreiro is a medium-sized city on the South Bank of the River Tagus (20 minutes from Lisbon by ferry), on the northern border of the District of Setúbal. 

Barreiro was the main industrial city in Portugal and Spain until 1970 and is known for its political and industrial history. Since the 70’s, Barreiro has been slowly redefining its identity, without losing its main characteristics inherited from history.
